Last February I changed my girlfriend's front brake pads on her Honda Civic. She drove to Florida and has since been living on Orlando. I begged her to get an oil change recently and get everything looked at. Well, when she took it to a garage the mechanic said her pads were completely worn down. He told her that the pads hadn't been replaced in the last 12 months.
Could these pads have worn down THAT fast? I was going to change the rotors too but her mechanic in NY advised that the ones on the car were fine and that I return the new ones.
Perhaps not changing the rotors had some play with the pads wearing down too fast? Also, they were cheap pads, not the duralast gold or what have you.
All in all I'm just seeking another opinion on the matter. Because all I can do is speculate. Perhaps Honda Civics just go through pads quickly?
