Smell and Leak

Gasoline ignites easily, and gasoline vapors can explode, so if you do smell gasoline - and you haven't just filled your tank - find the source of the leak and have it repaired immediately. If your usual repair facility isn't close by, either drive to the closest garage and have them repair it, or call your auto parts club and have them either fix it on the spot or tow the car to a repair facility.
