OK, here's the deal. I've stumbled across this car. 1989 Ford Escort 4 door sedan. I'm not trying to make a race car or do performance upgrades, I'm just looking at this as a work car.
This is the older Escorts with the metal bumpers.
The Escorts had a 1.9 HO GT Motor but it was SFI and they had a 1.9 TBI with a round air cleaner and the old style valve cover.
A few years earlier they had a 1.9L 2-barrel carb'd motor. I had an '86 with the carb'd motor and i sold it with 160K on it and the guy I sold it to has over 310K on it now with no major repairs.
I've got a '91 Escort now but it is 1.9L with SFI, which is a totally different motor.
My basic question is, were the TBI models reliable, etc?
