Hello, I own a 2002 Dodge Neon and I recently have had some trouble out of it. Yesterday evening I went to my cousin's house and it was running great, started great and everything, so I got there and spent some time with the family. Then I went to leave, the car started great, but on the way home it started to miss a little bit on me, like it was surging. So I got home and didn't think much of it, but I went out and decided to take it for a spin to see if it acted up again, and it started to get worse. It started to miss, and I had to floor it to get the car to take off but once it took off it ran good, just ran like crap at a low idle. Now I recently just got a valve job done to this car so I know it couldn't be a bent valve/head gasket or whatever, because I replaced all of that a month ago. So my guess is a spark plug fouled out. The car started right up and every. Anyways, I got back home and went outside to look around for the problems. I have yet to check the spark plug, but I went to start the car again and got absolutely nothing, No crank, nothing just complete silence, So I turned the lights on and everything to check the battery, and they were bright as can be. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump kick in and all of the dash board lights kick on (oil light, security, etc) and the radio works fine. When I go to crank the engine the light on the stereo goes off though and comes back on. I think that's normal.
Soo, What do you all think? I'm going to look more at it tomorrow. Does it sound like a bad starter? or starer motor? It just beats the crap out of me because it was starting soo good earler yesterday evening. No delay or anything just started right up. I have no clue unless I have a bad ground somewhere.
