IAC help

ok so im suspecting i have bad wires going to my iac valve got a extreme high idle on my 97 intrepid. 2100-2300 rmp in park and neutral then 1300-1500 in drive and reverse. so i bought a multimeter and i dont know what im doing wrong but when i try checking the iac resistance i never get a reading for ohms. advice on what do on this or how to check the wires going to the iac
