Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I don't all of the details but I'll outline what I know.

I own a 1996 Acura Integra 4 door automatic w/airconditioning I think 1.6L

The alternator caved and I had a hard time finding a replacement that fit. The one in my car had the sheave off center from the mounting holes. The I ordered had the sheave directly in the center of the mounting holes. Honda said it didn't fit cause they could get the tension on the belt right, although that's not the point of this Thread.

I'm not a 100% but I've heard it might be a Denso. Anyways, instead I had the alternator rebuilt as a rush job while watching and waiting for it. It needed a little plastic cylindrical piece with 2 contacts in it (something to do with brushes) as well as a new regulator. It was tested on a big machine that spun it and read out the voltage. Everything was fine. Once installed, I had a charging test done by Honda and everything check out fine. The only glitch was that the battery light is constantly on.

I called the guy who rebuilt the alternator and he said that as he also recognized that the alternator was used in a toyota, (which he had parts for) so he tried the toyota regulator. This is where things get a bit hazy... The only difference is that the acura vs the toyota had the battery indicator signal running out in one direction and running in on the other regulator electrical diagram. His thought at why the battery light was on instead of off. I don't quite get it and its probably hard for anyone to share their thoughts but I just want to know driving the car could potentially cause me more problems? The alternator "rebuilder" does not think so but has with no pressure, if I want to change it at a super cheap deal.

Honda said the car was working fine and I've used it since... Any thoughts?

Thanks!
